Until now, you could only mark a record as a favorite from its detail view. Now you can do it directly in the list: each row has a star icon that lets you add a record to your favorites or remove it with a single click. You can then quickly filter the list by your favorite records, keeping your key Clients, Deals, or Contacts close at hand.
The feature is available to all users, whether they have an Administrator role or a standard user role. Favorites are private: each user can only see the records they have marked as favorites. Other colleagues cannot see them.
Where to find the star icon
In the list view, the star icon is located at the beginning of each row in a separate narrow column. A yellow star means the record is in your favorites. A gray star means it is not in your favorites.
The same column is available in all supported lists (Clients, Contacts, Deals, and others – see below).
How to add and remove favorite records
Open any list, for example Clients.
Click the gray star at the beginning of the row of the record you want to keep handy. The star will turn yellow.
To remove a record from your favorites, click the yellow star. It will turn gray again.
When you hover over the star, a tooltip appears saying Add to favorites or Remove from favorites. Clicking the star won't open the record, so there's no need to navigate to its detail view.
Records you previously marked as favorites in their detail views are also displayed as favorites in the list and can be filtered. There's no need to mark them again.
How to filter favorite records
You can find your favorite records in both the Quick Filter and the Advanced Filter.
Quick Filter
The Favorites toggle is available in the quick filters above the list. Click it once to enable the filter and show only your favorite records. Click it again to turn the filter off.
Advanced Filter
In the Advanced Filter, you'll find the Show favorites option. You can combine it with other conditions, for example, to display only your favorite clients from a particular city. The Show favorites condition can only be enabled. It cannot be negated (i.e. used to find records that are not favorites).
How to show or hide the star column
The star column is part of the column selection, so you can customize it just like any other column.
Open the column settings in the list (Customize columns).
In the Select columns dialog, find the Favorites column.
Check the box to show the column or uncheck it to hide it.
Confirm your selection.
The Favorites column has a fixed width and always stays at the beginning of each row. Its position and width cannot be changed. If you hide the column, the Favorites filter in the Quick Filters and the Show favorites option in the Advanced Filter will continue to work.
To restore the original list layout, use Restore default column settings.
Which lists support favorites
The star icon and filter are available in the following lists:
| Area | Lists |
|---|---|
| Sales | Clients, Contacts, Leads, Deals, Quotes, Orders, Projects |
| Products | Products, Price Lists |
| Activities | Activities, Tasks, Meetings, Events, Calls |
| Communication | Emails, Letters, Mass Emails |
| Invoicing | Invoices |
Other lists, such as attachment lists or change history, do not have a star icon.
Privacy and permissions
The feature is available to all users, regardless of their role.
Favorites are private. Each user can only see and filter the records they have marked as favorites. Other colleagues cannot see your favorites, and you cannot see theirs.
Where else you can see your favorites
You can also mark a record as a favorite from its detail view by clicking the star in the top-left corner. Favorite records are also displayed on the dashboard in the Favorite Items portlet. Marking a record as a favorite in the detail view, list, or dashboard is all the same: if you add a record to your favorites in the list, it will be marked as a favorite everywhere.
I can't see the star icon or click it
| Situation | What to check |
|---|---|
| There is no star icon in the list | The Favorites column is probably hidden. Enable it in the column settings as described above. |
| The list doesn't support the star icon | The star icon is only available in the lists mentioned in the section "Which lists support favorites". |
| The star icon is temporarily inactive | Your change is being saved or the record's status is still loading. Wait a moment and try again. |
| Nothing appears after enabling the filter | You haven't marked any records as favorites in this list yet. Each list has its own favorites. |
